Duo Cavinella

The Duo Cavinella brings together two outstanding artists from Ukraine, who have lived in Germany for many years and are at home on international stages: violinist Kateryna Kostiuk and pianist Violina Petrychenko. Their music is characterized by a deep emotional connection to their homeland and an artistic passion that builds cultural bridges.

Kateryna Kostiuk, born in Kyiv, began her musical training at the age of five with the violin. She continued her studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln (Cologne College of Music and Dance), having previously studied in Kyiv. She earned her Bachelor’s degree there and later completed two Master’s degrees: a Master in Orchestral Performance at the Orchesterzentrum Dortmund and a Master Solo degree in Cologne.

During her studies, Kateryna Kostiuk was successful in several international competitions. Since 2013, she has been active in various youth orchestras, including as concertmaster of the Internationale Junge Orchesterakademie (International Young Orchestra Academy) in Germany. Her passion for chamber music led to the founding of the Trio Sérénaide in 2015, with whom she has since enjoyed a busy concert career. The trio was awarded a scholarship from the Werner Richard - Dr. Carl Dörken Foundation in 2019.

Kateryna Kostiuk gained valuable orchestral experience with the Bochumer Symphoniker, the Wuppertal Symphony Orchestra, the Göttinger Symphonie Orchester, and other renowned orchestras. Since 2022, she has been a permanent violinist (1st Violin) with the Niederrheinische Sinfoniker.

With her extensive background in solo performance, orchestral playing, and chamber music, Kateryna Kostiuk delights audiences with each performance.

Violina Petrychenko, born in Zaporizhzhia, completed her musical training in Kyiv, Weimar, Cologne, and Essen. As a soloist with the Lviv Philharmonic, she is currently closely connected to one of the leading orchestras in Ukraine, but also regularly performs throughout Europe. With eight CD recordings dedicated to 20th-century Ukrainian piano music, she has established herself as a leading interpreter of this repertoire and is passionately committed to its international visibility.

In the Duo Cavinella, virtuosity and dedication, sound and origin, merge into a powerful musical dialogue. In their programs, the two artists combine classical masterpieces with rarely heard treasures of Ukrainian musical tradition – sensitively, vibrantly, and full of expression.
